Supervisory Board Visits Nicaragua

On Tuesday the 4th of July, the Casa Tortuga supervisory board (Edzard Meltzer, Karel de Lussanet and Frans van Loef) arrived in Nicaragua for a whirlwind 5-day tour of the country. Besides viewing potential properties and acquainting themselves with the various sounds, sites and smells of the country, the visit served to further develop the working relationship between management and supervisory boards. In all aspects the trip was an outright success!
In order to give an adequate impression of the diversity of the country’s natural bounty, the three properties selected for viewing were each located in a different part of Rivas province; near Chacocente nature reserve, near the town of Ostional and on the island of Ometepe. This last property in particular was important to highlight since the possibility of locating the business on that island is a fairly recent development that does diverge from what is indicated in the business plan. Suffice it to say that the supervisory board was suitably impressed with the location and has given their full support should we choose to locate on the island.
Ample time was also spent discussing other vital elements of the current stage of the project. These included 1) review of current communication, 2) management of financial resources, 3) registration of the Nicaraguan entity, 4) management of the design & construction process and 5) specific task division.
Above all it is the opinion of all six board members that the time spent getting to know one another will prove invaluable in facilitating and improving the coordination and cooperation in the coming 12 months. Clearly this is the most crucial phase for our young company and we here in Nicaragua feel all the more confident after spending these five days exchanging thoughts and experiences with the supervisory board. We greatly appreciate them having made the effort to visit on such short notice and hope to welcome them again (and not to mention you), here in the near future!
