Heavy Winds

Early summer always brings the heaviest winds of the year and this year was no acception. We suffered some damage to the roofs on Lodge #2 and Nature cabin #1 with the top cover on Ometeptl lodge needing to be replaced which meant waiting a few days and then getting our roofers from La Palma back for a day.Our main lodge which is most exposed held-up very well. The exposed face is seen in the first picture from the top of the water tower.

Underneath this roof Erwin, Harbin and Ulyses have been working hard to finish laying slate tiles throughout the main lodge which will be completed in the coming week. Our first toilet is also functioning in the main lodge as is the shower for the dormitory guests. Our resident expert in all things to do with renewable energy is busy preparing the mounts for the solar energy system for the main lodge.

On the operational front we have been maintaining an occupancy rate of approximately 50%. We are finding that clients are predominantly booking within a week of arriving and that our internet site is proving a real winner. This also means that marketing within the country will be an important source of business.
