Winter Ending

As we pass through the middle of November it is already clear that 2008 will go down as one of the wettest years in recent memory. The lake is as high as it has been for years and farmers are happy with this year´s harvest. There should still be a few more storms before the summer really kicks in but the days are already predominantly sunny and we can also feel the temperature rising slightly again. We are taking advantage of these final weeks to still plant more gardens where necessary and since yesterday we have a new volunteer, Rebecca, helping us.

Rebecca and Anielka are working near the main lodge where the roof structure is almost complete and we hope to have Hipolito and his men back soon to start thatching. Detailing continues on Lodge 1 and 2; the floor in Lodge 1 has dried sufficiently to allow us to spray ´golden wheat´ floor stain and Don Constantino is applying the base coat to Lodge 2. Manuel and Arlin are preparing the gey-water filter for Lodge one and will do the same for Lodge 2 in the coming week. At the same time Jonathan is also planning to mount the solar panels for Lodge 1. All of us here are focussed on getting that first cabin working.
