Pure October Weather

The first weather delays were suffered this week as work was halted both Thursday and Friday morning due to constant rain which is a result of a tropical depression over El Salvador. This has slowed work on the roofing of he second luxury lodge which will now be completed on Tuesday.
The wind and rain also makes it difficult to walk along the rafters of the main lodge where a team is currently mounting the roofing structure. Seeing the eucalypt pillars raised in the lower lying restaurant makes one realize how impressively high the roof will be. The pillars there are over 4 meters high with the apex of the roof another 4 meters or so above that. After the roof goes up it will be possible to start laying the slate floors (you can see the slate in the foreground of the picture).
Thomas and his team have started to landscape the gardens around the first luxury lodge and they were one of the few to continue work on Thursday but the amount of water makes working the earth and hauling rocks a dangerous busniness.

Down at the Finca life has been quiet since our italian volunteer left and with only Martijn present the monkees are becoming more daring and have been coming down from the tree tops to eat papaya leaves at 10 meters from where we normally sit to eat.
