Full Team Again

On Tuesday the 5th June I returned to Nicaragua following a 7-week stint in Australia. Immediately upon returning to the island I was struck by just how much things had changed. The rainy season is now in full-swing and everything is a lush-green color and growing strongly. I was also impressed to witness the near completion of the road leading up to the property. It not only looks great but also appears very strong and fits well in with its natural surrounds. The workers and management are to be commended! We will include some pictures of it in the next weekly blog update.

With the rains has come planting season. We were hoping to pick-up the circa 700 plants we purchased a couple of months ago in Masotepe and Catarina but this exercise has had to be moved back one week to give the concrete used in the creation of the road sufficient drying time. To this end we expect to make the plant trip which involves hiring a large truck, in the week commencing the 18th June. At least, by this time, the ground will be well and truly ready for planting and the road will have optimally cured.

Jonathan has been steadily working on the web blog to include the development aspects of our activities. There are two main changes as a part of his work. These are,
• The blog address has now changed to www.totoco.blogspot.com (Please note, www.casa-tortuga.blogspot.com is no longer functioning.) This change is consistent with management’s endeavors to brand all commercial and non-profit activities under the Totoco umbrella.

• There is now a new link on the blog which takes you to the Totoco Project Centre. This link shows all of the approved development projects the Project Centre is working on. You can either view these according to the date they were posted or alternatively you can click on one of the 5 subject areas and see all projects relating to that area. Please note, this part of the blog is still a work-in-progress but it is taking shape. Eventually the Project Centre will have its own link under www.totoco.com.ni

We are now also now in the last phases of finalizing our new domain name (www.totoco.com.ni). Legal requirements within Nicaragua previously had prevented us from registering the domain name until the government officially recognized our commercial name change from Casa Tortuga to Totoco.

We have located the name of a reputable English-speaking lawyer. Management and the Supervisory Board are now liaising with Rene Stokman and the new lawyer to ascertain the clauses that need to be included into the Promesa de Venta in order to minimize risk to Casa Tortuga and its investors.

Overall, it is great to be back and all three of us are keen to continue realizing the Totoco dream.
