A Typical Stay

I want to use this BLOG to describe a typical stay at TOTOCO instead of only highlighting the developments in construction and elswhere on the property.

More often than not our clients communicate with us extensively in order to arrange for transportation to TOTOCO as well as indicating at times what activities they will be interested in. Ometepe is clearly more of an activity destination than somewhere like San Juan del Sur or the Laguna de Apoyo. Typically a client will arrive in the early or late afternoon and rarely undertake any activities on the first day.

Upon arrival we make it a point to personally receive our guests in order to introduce them to their cabin and to answer any burning questions they may have. Likewise we make it a point to have one of us in the restaurant during any guest's first evening. This personal involvement is clearly hugely appreciated and usually leads to a clear planning of the guest's full stay with us which is typically 2 to 3 nights. The most popular activities are kayaking, hiking, visiting the natural swimming-pool at the eye of the water (pictured)and finally horse-back riding.

Our all-women kitchen team is on-hand from 06:30 until 20:30 and their humble but always fun way of interacting with guests contrasts strongly to the often stiff and impersonal service at other high-end hotels. Its part of what makes people feel at home and relaxed. Although we are continually training the girls to be more independent in dealing with the customer's needs, it is with Pedro Pablo (pictured with Patricia) that we hope to have a real bi-lingual receptionist in the future who can give the same level of personal service as Roslyn, Jonathan and Martijn. He has great potential.

More often than not the guest will take advantage of our 1/2 Board food package which includes breakfast and dinner as they will be away during the day. We always recommend that guests try and be back at the lodge for the always spectacular sunsets we enjoy before having an early dinner and usually an early night.
