The week of heavy rains came to an end and now we have had a week of hot and humid weather. As I write this however, the skies are clouding over, thunder can be heard in the distance and a burst of rain has started to fall. Planting was postponed today due to the lack of rain but if this storm holds steady for twenty minutes then tomorrow another hundred or so trees can go into the ground.

If tomorrow prooves to be a wet day however, the final cementing of the pumpkin water-tank might be postponed which will require an 8-hour dry spell. Four masons work together- 2 on the inside of the metal skeleton and 2 on the outside and they proceed to squeeze cement into the metal meshing. The result is a thin-walled but very robust tank that will look impressive and hold up to 5000 liters of potable water.

At the top of the property the construction on cabin #9 is complete for the moment and will be put to use as the temporary storage facility as soon as our next delivery of wood from the mainland arrives later this week. The recently received eucalyptus wood must first be peeled before it can be stored. Construction on cabin #1 is set to start this coming Monday while work on the main lodge continues steadily with much excavation still required to accomodate the 44 support posts and 3 seperate levels involved in the structure.

Last week saw extensive work done on erosion protection at various points along the road. This work was done by the farm team who were unable to plant due to the phase of the moon. The lunar cycle dictates which weeks are good for planting, seeding, harvesting and pruning.
