Moving into July the layout of the core areas of the hotel are becoming more and more visible. The primary paths connecting the main lodge to the various cabins have been cut and planted with the typical lemon-grass borders we are using throughout the farm; apart from dominating the eco-tourism market on Ometepe we can easily enter the world lemon-grass market as a global player!

There are now four construction teams active with a fifth to follow soon and all activity is now focussed on the top section of the property. The picture above shows the nearly completed multi-purpose storage structure which will be behind the main lodge. The standard construction technique to be applied on all buildings has been confirmed and we are also clear on the choice of materials for roofs and walls; locally produced bricks for walls and locally sourced chowiton (banana thatch) leaves for roofs.

The construction of the ferro-cement Pumpkin tank was a success and will be put to use after being filled and flushed a few times to allow it to properly cure and to remove the cement flavour. The next tank will be up to four times as big and located at the top of the property.
